A new section is added to the National Archaeological Museum of Lomellina
On Saturday 22nd September 2018, at 11.00 am, a new section dedicated to prehistory and proto-history was inaugurated in the National Archaeological Museum of Lomellina.
Opened in 1998 as part of the cultural dimension of the restoration and reuse of Castello di Vigevano, the exhibition itinerary of the Archaeological Museum of Vigevano has now been extended with the ex novo mounting of an entire prehistoric and protohistoric section.
A new lighting system covers the large space parallel to the stable, which holds 20 showcases containing the oldest part of the archaeological collections, until now largely relegated to unvisitable storage spaces.
In this way, the Museum offers an extraordinary insight into the ancient population in Lomellina, thanks to artefacts dating back to prehistoric times (between the Mesolithic period and the Copper Age, VI – III millennium BC) and the protohistoric era (Bronze Age, first and second Iron Age, from the 3rd millennium down to the first century BC), leading up to the phase of Romanisation in the first century BC.
